FAQ

What is Flumigard used for?

Flumigard and Semera are broad spectrum herbicides and algaecides used to treat a wide variety of floating or submerged weeds plus algae.

What is the active ingredient?

The active ingredient is flumioxazin.

How to apply Flumigard?

Mix the liquid form with water in a sprayer or dissolve granules in water and spray over where the weeds are. A surfactant is recommended when targeting floating weeds such as watermeal or duckweed.

Is granular or liquid better?

If treating watermeal, granular and liquid forms are best mixed with water and sprayed, so liquid is easier.

How does Flumigard compare to Clipper?

Flumigard and Semera have the same active ingredient in the same quantities as Clipper!

Is flumioxazin safe for fish and wildlife?

Flumigard and Semera are EPA approved for aquatic use. They are safe to use with the fish, frogs, turtles, etc. in the water as well as those that come to visit.

Will Flumigard herbicide kill duckweed or watermeal?

Yes! Flumigard and Semera will kill a large variety of floating weeds (including watermeal), submerbed weeds, and algae. To kill submerged weeds, check the Flumigard label or Semera herbicide label for rates.

When should I apply Flumigard or Semera?

For best results, apply Flumigard or Semera early in the morning when the pH of the water is naturally lower. Apply Flumigard or Semera when the water temperature is 60° F or warmer and the weeds are actively growing.

When will I see results after applying flumioxazin aquatic herbicide?

You’ll see results on floating weeds or algae in 3-7 days and submerged weeds in 17-21 days.

My pond was absolutely covered with water-meal Two applications and I can see a visible difference, watermeal is about half of what it was. It looks like the watermeal is dying and has gone from bright green to a brownish color, which is an indication it is dying off.
Since my application was mid-summer, not the ideal time for treatment, I will try it again in the spring.

  2. mruch746 (verified owner)

    great product ,works fair price

  3. Valerie Donoghue (verified owner)

Our pond was saturated with duckweed and also watermeal which was never diagnosed by a pond specialist who came out to our home. Lake Restoration said that we most likely had duckweed AND watermeal and recommended this product. Our pond (which encompasses about an acre of water) is now completely free of both! Lake Restoration was exceptionally helpful in recommending the right product. Our pond has never looked more beautiful.

  4. Anonymous (verified owner)

Fantastic product that removed our watermeal covered pond in 2 weeks.

  5. Jennifer (verified owner)

My pond is about 4000 sq ft. It was saturated in watermeal for two years. I found this company online and ordered flumigard with the rest of the products for weeds. The watermeal is almost gone. My pond has never been prettier. It has only been 3 weeks of working on it. It absolutely does the job!
