Brittle naiad has dark green leaves with serrated edges. Leaves grow two-tenths of an inch long. Flowers can grow to three-fourths of an inch.
Description
Brittle naiad has very thin whitish green stems that are about four-hundredths of an inch thick. They grow four to eight inches long and branch out.
Dark green leaves grow opposite each other, are about four- to five-hundredths of an inch wide and two-tenths of an inch long. Leaves are serrated with seven to 15 teeth on each side.
Flowers can grow to three-fourths of an inch long, with one or two per axil.

Brittle naiad can be found from Texas to Florida and all the way up to New Hampshire, plus California.
